Roll gold leaf allows the rapid gilding of large and flat surfaces. The individual leaves are applied manually onto a roll of tissue paper with a standard length of 20.5 meters (67.3 ft.) and a width that varies depending on the size of the leaf.

In the gilding phase, gold leaf rolls can be cut to length using ordinary scissors, taking particular care to ensure that they are cut at the joints between the leaves. Upon request, the roll can be supplied in a pre-cut width, ranging from a minimum of 10 millimeters (0.4 in), in a standard length of 20.5 meters (67.3 ft.).

The gilding process is very simple: after applying the adhesive size, the roll is unwound over the area to be gilded and the leaf is made to adhere by pressing down on the tissue paper side. The paper is then removed. The action of the glue allows adhesion and easy removal of the tissue paper.
